WHICH WINES SUIT SELO1 AND SELO2 STOPPERS BEST?
SELO1 and SELO2 stoppers are ideal for still wines. If your wines don’t need long-term aging, these stoppers are a great choice. They work particularly well with both white and younger red wines.
WHAT MATERIALS ARE SELO STOPPERS MADE FROM?
SELO stoppers are made from natural cork, harvested from the cork oak tree. This material is renewable and eco-friendly. The cork used is safe for wine, with no recycled content or GMOs.
WHAT SIZE ARE THE STOPPERS?
Both SELO1 and SELO2 measure 44 × 24 mm.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SELO1 AND SELO2?
The most noticeable difference is in shape. SELO1 has straight sides, while SELO2 features rounded edges at both ends.
They also have different technical specifications:
- SELO1 absorbs up to 30%, while SELO2 can absorb up to 40%. Both stoppers, however, offer low absorption rates, ensuring the wine remains protected.
- SELO1 seals bottles up to 2.5 bar pressure, while SELO2 works up to 1.5 bar. Both are perfect for still wines, which don’t require high pressure sealing.
- SELO1 has slightly lower TCA release (1.5 ng/L) compared to SELO2 (≤ 2.0 ng/L). However, for wines that are not stored for long periods, this difference in TCA levels is minimal.
WHAT IS TCA, AND WHY DOES IT MATTER FOR WINE STOPPERS?
TCA (trichloroanisole) is a chemical that sometimes gives wine a “corked” taste. Although it doesn’t pose any health risks, it can alter the wine’s flavor. The rule is simple – the lower the TCA levels, the less likely the wine will have this taste. All our stoppers are rigorously tested for TCA.
CAN SELO STOPPERS BE USED FOR SPARKLING WINES?
IS A NATURAL CORK STOPPER BETTER THAN A PLASTIC ONE FOR WINE?
Absolutely! Natural cork allows wine to breathe, which helps it develop and mature with a richer flavor. Plastic stoppers block air completely. To ensure your wine reaches its full potential, natural cork is the best option.
Moreover, natural cork poses no health risks. Unlike some plastic stoppers, it doesn’t introduce chemicals into the wine.
HOW SHOULD WINE BOTTLES WITH NATURAL CORK BE STORED?
It’s best to store them horizontally, which keeps the cork moist and prevents it from drying out. Wine should be kept in a cool, dark place, ideally between 50°F and 59°F. Maintaining a humidity level of around 70% will help preserve the cork’s quality.
DO NATURAL CORKS ROT?
No, natural cork does not rot. It’s moisture-resistant and has antibacterial properties.
DOES NATURAL CORK CRUMBLE INSIDE THE BOTTLE?
No, natural cork doesn’t crumble. It remains flexible, effectively sealing the bottle while maintaining its integrity for a long time.
To ensure the cork stays in good condition, store bottles horizontally to keep the cork in contact with the wine and prevent it from drying out.
Natural cork protects your wine perfectly. Unlike plastic, which can affect the taste and block airflow, cork seals the wine like a personal guardian. That’s why SELO is the ideal solution – practical and cost-effective.
#1 ELEGANCE AND STYLE
Natural cork enhances every wine bottle’s character! Unlike synthetic stoppers, cork adds a refined and noble touch.
Although plastic stoppers might be cheaper, they lack the sophistication that natural cork brings. Instead of highlighting the uniqueness of the wine, they make the bottle feel more generic and mass-produced. They don’t provide the prestige that’s essential for high-end wines.
When you open a bottle with friends, everyone will notice the natural cork – these small details make a big impact.
#2 TRADITION AND A SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
Natural cork is more than just a stopper; it’s a key part of the wine experience. Opening a bottle with a cork connects you to centuries of winemaking tradition. The soft creak of the corkscrew and the satisfying pop create a unique atmosphere.
This small detail makes every tasting a special moment, marking the beginning of a journey through flavor and aroma.
#3 CORK PRODUCTION SUPPORTS THE ENVIRONMENT
By choosing natural cork, you’re contributing to a bigger cause. Cork production is eco-friendly and helps sustain local ecosystems in Mediterranean countries like Portugal and Spain. Many people don’t realize that harvesting cork doesn’t require cutting down trees – it actually promotes forest regeneration.
Cork harvesting also has a positive impact on local communities and economies, particularly in Mediterranean regions where cork oak trees thrive. It’s a crucial source of income for many families, helping to preserve traditional skills that have been passed down for generations.
By enjoying your favorite wine, you’re not only ensuring its quality but also supporting environmental conservation. It’s a small step for you, but a huge leap for the planet!
#4 HIGH QUALITY AND SAFETY
Our stoppers are made from larger granules of natural cork, ensuring durability and high quality. What sets them apart is the absence of recycled materials and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Choosing natural cork ensures your wine is stored in optimal conditions, free from chemical contaminants that cheaper stoppers may introduce.
The cork’s dimensions are tailored to fit the bottle perfectly, providing optimal sealing. This ensures that your wine remains well-preserved without the risk of excess air entering the bottle.
#5 COST-EFFECTIVE SOLUTION
SELO corks are a smart way to save money without compromising on quality. You don’t have to spend a fortune on premium stoppers to enjoy the benefits of natural cork. Why pay more when you can get the same quality and performance? SELO stoppers offer the best balance between price and quality – they seal your wine securely and preserve its flavor and aroma. With SELO, you get top-quality cork at a reasonable price.
SELO provides high-quality corks at an affordable price, ensuring your wine is well-protected. It’s the best of both worlds – a quality cork that won’t break the bank!
#6 NO CRUMBLING
Nothing spoils a wine experience like a crumbling stopper. But with natural cork, there’s no need to worry! Its flexible structure prevents breakage. You can open your bottle with ease, knowing the cork will stay intact.
Unlike cheaper stoppers that might crumble and leave particles in your wine, our corks ensure a smooth and clean opening every time. You’ll enjoy the full flavor and aroma of your wine without worrying about cork pieces in your glass.
