Got questions? We’ve got answers!

DOES CORK FLOORING HELP RETAIN HEAT?

Absolutely! Cork flooring is a natural insulator thanks to its unique cellular structure filled with tiny air pockets. This means your floor stays warm, even on chilly days. Say goodbye to cold feet and enjoy walking barefoot in total comfort!

IS CORKOLEUM SLIP-RESISTANT?

Yes, it is! Cork’s natural texture includes microscopic air cells that provide extra grip. Plus, the flexibility of Corkoleum distributes pressure more evenly underfoot, reducing the risk of slipping. So, you can walk with confidence and security.

HOW DO YOU INSTALL CORK FLOORING?

Before installation, store Corkoleum rolls upright in their packaging for at least 72 hours in a dry, ventilated space. This allows the material to adjust to room temperature and humidity, ensuring optimal results.

Here’s what you’ll need: a short-nap velour roller, utility knife, pencil, measuring tape, ruler, tray, and bucket.

  1. Ensure the subfloor is level and clean.

  2. Unroll Corkoleum and let it lay flat for a few minutes. Check for any defects.

  3. Apply adhesive to the floor. Use Wakol D3540 for both porous and non-porous surfaces or Mapei Adesilex G19 for rubber and PVC flooring. If you’re overlapping sections, apply adhesive 5 cm (2 inches) narrower than the cork sheet’s width.

  4. Remove any debris from the installation process.

  5. After 24 hours, apply a protective finish as per the manufacturer’s guidelines.

CORKOLEUM VS. HARDWOOD – WHICH ONE IS BETTER?

It all depends on what you’re looking for. If you prefer a seamless floor without visible joints, Corkoleum is the way to go. It not only looks sleek and modern but is also easier to maintain since there are no gaps where dirt and moisture can accumulate.

If visible seams don’t bother you, hardwood floors could be a good option. Many types can be installed without glue, like floating floors, making the process simple and quick.

Corkoleum is an eco-friendly flooring solution made from natural cork harvested from the bark of cork oak trees. Unlike traditional wood flooring, it doesn’t require cutting down trees, making it a truly renewable resource. In fact, Portugal’s cork forests absorb around 14 million tons of CO₂ annually—equivalent to the emissions of over 2 million cars!

How does Corkoleum compare to other flooring types? Solid wood is expensive, high-maintenance, and sensitive to moisture. Laminate floors often feel artificial, can be noisy, and lack water resistance. Ceramic tiles, while durable, are cold, hard, and tough on your joints. Carpeting, on the other hand, traps dirt and allergens, making it difficult to clean. Corkoleum eliminates these issues—it’s affordable, low-maintenance, warm, quiet, joint-friendly, and hypoallergenic.

Corkoleum comes in a variety of colors and patterns, allowing you to customize it to match your style and décor. Plus, its seamless design means no cracks for dirt or moisture to seep into, making cleaning a breeze!
